My name is Amber Acosta, eh.
Canadian born, lover of winter days – even though I really hated the cold my entire childhood.
I scribble all sorts of silly things, stories and drawings, for my tiny toddler (who is currently trying to climb into my lap to take over the telling of this little story). The three of us (my husband, daughter and I) live in the South West of France where the sun shines with all its might.
Okay, so I don't love to draw to the same level as I love to create. As long as I am making something life makes sense. And, to that end, I have sort of fallen into the author illustrator career path, and I'm so glad I did.
I like to focus on marvellously domestic moments – with a bit of whimsy woven in. I love me some detail, textures, patterns. I want the viewer to be able to find something new each time they return to the art.
I graduated some years ago from Emily Carr University of Art + Design with a BFA and a minor in Art + Text, a rather handy minor looking back (well done past me). Along the way I picked up a diploma in graphic design.
And, that's where we are. Happy chappy to be here, and even happier that you're here too.
